Nexos Comunitarios - Learn Global Connect Local

About the Week

This three-day program will connect you with a team of Western students and Peruvian citizens, with a focus on learning and interacting with each other, focusing on serving each other in good ways. This is your opportunity to give a team of Peruvian participants a look into the Canadian culture and our systems and structures while learning from them about their culture and systems.

The first day of the experience will focus on connecting as a team, meeting the Peruvian team, and identifying each person's individual strengths through the CliftonStrengths assessment. You will then work on some team-building activities that help you connect with each other.

Day two will start with a community speaker from Peru. Then the team will work together to begin connecting some of the community challenges through a design jam style workshop and a photovoice project to help understand systematic community challenges in Peru and Canada.

Day three will focus on solution-based cross-cultural connections. Learning from each other and connecting over the challenges and solutions in each community. The day will conclude with a Peruvian/Canadian celebration.
